Overview

TroopNode Client is a GPS telemetry client. This policy explains how we handle your location data.

Data collection & usage

To fulfill its primary function, TroopNode Client collects and processes the following data:

Precise location: Latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, and heading. This is collected even when the app is in the background or the screen is locked to ensure continuous tracking.
Device identity: A unique, persistent Node ID (UUID v4) generated upon installation to distinguish your device on the server.

Data transmission & sharing

User-configured destination: Your data is sent exclusively to the server URL that you manually enter in the app settings. If no server is configured, the app does not send any data.
No third-party sharing: We do not sell, trade, or transmit your data to third-party analytics platforms, cloud services, or advertising networks.
Encryption: All data is transmitted over HTTPS to ensure a secure connection to your configured TroopNode server.

Data persistence

Location reports are stored in a local persistent queue on your device until they are successfully received by your configured server. After successful delivery, they are deleted from the device.

Permissions

This app requires:

Foreground Service (Location): To maintain a GPS lock while the app is minimized.
Post Notifications: To display the mandatory ongoing tracking status.
